Abstract
Introduction. Recently, new data have emerged regarding the etiology and pathophysiological mechanisms of idiopathic intracranial hypertension in children.
Clinical case description. This paper presents a review of the literature over the past 10 years and analyzes a clinical case of idiopathic intracranial hypertension in a twelve-year-old female patient with obesity. The clinical presentation of the disease in children and the findings from medical examinations have certain features that differ from those in adults.
Conclusion. Thus, a more detailed ophthalmological and neurosurgical evaluation of this patient group is advisable for early detection of the disease and for determining a safe and effective treatment strategy.
